This Week’s Theme

This Week’s Theme is NERVOUS SYSTEM PART 2:  This week, we continue our journey on how yoga and breathwork help to calm and regulate our nervous system.

The Nervous System Part 2Yoga has been found to change neurotransmitter levels and brain activity. Throughout my professional career, I have seen how people who have some form of daily meditation or mindfulness practice, experience greater happiness, are less likely to become depressed and are more resilient.

Below are two cases from the book“50 Ways to Heal a Yogi,” by Dr. Timothy McCall, MD:
“Dr. Richard Davidson of the University of Wisconsin found that the left prefrontal cortex showed heightened activity in people who meditate, a finding that has been correlated with greater levels of happiness and better immune function. ”
“A study at Benares Hindu University in India found that three and six months practices of yoga improved depression and lead to a significant rise in serotonin levels and a decrease in levels of monoamine oxidase and cortisol. All of these changes are in the direction we would expect to improve mood.”

This Week’s Word

This Week’s Word is AUTHENTICITY: “I know who I truly am, and I am proud to show the world who I am. “by Amanda Sides, “108 Themes For Your Yoga Practice.”

This Week’s Essential Oil

This Week’s Essential Oil is CEDARWOOD.: – doTERRA Essential Oils
We’ll also talk about essential oils– this week Cedarwood is our oil. I chose this oil because it helps to soothe the mind and the body. Common uses— dilute with a carrier oil and apply to the skin. Note: This essential oil has a lovely smell when used with a diffuser.
PROPS:  Our props for the week – mat, pillow, strap & blocks.
We look forward to seeing you as we continue to build a virtual community together!
One breath, one stretch, one affirmation… at a time!
